Dear friends, I thought I would get this out before October completely slipped away; I hope you all had a nice Halloween. I returned last week from a month-long visit to Hungary, where I visited some new places and met some great folk artists. There are several new projects "in the works" here at Lmntl, and you can expect some new embroidery kits in 2002. In the last newsletter I wrote that I didn't know much about Sarkozi embroidery, so on this visit I decided to do some research. Decs, the region's main village, is probably best known for its woven textiles, but is home to all kinds of folk artists, including embroiderers, potters, furniture makers, egg painters, and beaded jewelry makers. So, there's a new feature about Sarkozi folk art and Decs for the website, you can find it at http://www.lmntl.com/sarkozfolkart.html.Here are the other new additions to our website: Books I've added a small collection of books relating to Hungary, folk art, needlework, Central Europe, etc. I hope to expand this collection and welcome your recommendations. The books are sold in two different ways: some are kept in our inventory, and ordered and sold like any other Lmntl product. Others are sold through the Amazon.com Associates Program, which means that when you click on those books another window will open to that product on the Amazon.com website. Amazon.com will then process and ship your order, and pay me a referral fee. You can also navigate around the Amazon.com site and purchase other products at the same time (and I get credit for those too J ). There is one additional book that we will be carrying but isn't on the website yet: Hungarian Cuisine and Personal Memories by Eniko Farkas. The books are on their way now and will be added to the website as soon as they arrive. Visit my "books" page at http://www.lmntl.com/books.html.For the holidays We've added embroidered Christmas ornaments from Mezokovesd, Hungary. Choose from three different styles: stocking, heart, and rooster. See the ornaments at http://www.lmntl.com/christmas.html.I thought I'd offer a special on shipping this month: mention this newsletter in your order, and get free shipping on kits and textiles. This offer is valid through December 1, 2001. For local SF Bay Area customers, I will be at two local venues this holiday season. First, the Santa Clara High School Craft Fair from Nov. 17 - 18 at Santa Clara High, located at 3000 Benton Street. I will also have a booth at the Spirit of Christmas Crafts Faire from Friday Nov. 30 through Sunday Dec. 2. The Faire is held at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa. Admission is $2.00 Friday, $4.00 Saturday and Sunday - if you are interested I'd be glad to send you coupons for $1.00 off admission. At both venues, I will have several special items and one-of-a kind pieces that aren't up on the website. Hope to see you there! Thank you for your interest in Lmntl Crafts! Sincerely, Donna Fenton http://www.lmntl.com |
