June 2002 Newsletter

 Dear Friends,

It's been a little while since the last newsletter - although I have a lot of "work in progress", there haven't been too many major additions to the website. There are a few things to mention:

 · eBay-ers: As many of you know, I've been listing items on eBay for the past few months; in fact, that is how several of you found out about Lmntl Crafts in the first place. I always have at least a couple of items listed, as it's a great way to get the word out about my company. It's also the easiest way to sell all those one-of-a-kind items I always pick up on my trips, and I occasionally even sell pieces I've done myself. It's really easy to access my auctions: just go to my homepage at http://www.lmntl.com and click on the link at the bottom of the page.

· The current Feature Article is actually an old one, reworked. I've basically rewritten the article on Mezokovesd, adding a lot more information and several pictures of antique embroideries that I got permission to take at the Matyo Museum. With the help of the Museum staff and a couple of books I picked up there, I was able to go into more detail about the development of Matyo embroidery and folk costume. Go to http://www.lmntl.com/mezokovesd.html to read the article.

· More Matyo designs: I've added Matyo embroidered doilies to the website. They are the same design as in the kits, available in traditional colors or white, both with white crocheted trim. These sell for $12.00 each; go to http://www.lmntl.com/doily_fin.html . The Matyo table runner is now offered in all-white as well, for $23.00. That can be viewed at http://www.lmntl.com/tablerunner_fin.html . Maria Kovacs has also come up with some really nice new designs for doilies and runners, which I have ordered and will add to the website as soon as they arrive.

· Summer Special: I'm offering 10% off Ottilia Kercsik's hand-woven rugs, as her nephew John will be bringing me several more on his upcoming trip to the US! I mentioned these new items in the last newsletter, but didn't say much about them. Mrs. Kercsik is a retired accountant who lives in Mosonmagyarovar, Hungary. She learned to crochet and embroider in elementary school, but only took up weaving after her retirement. The wool rugs are woven on a small handloom, and are designed to be used as wall hangings or table runners. She uses different weaving techniques to create interesting textural effects, such as the raised loops or the "rosemary" designs. See the rugs at http://www.lmntl.com/rugs.html .

If you are looking for an item that you haven't seen on the website, don't hesitate to ask. I can often special-order embroidered items in different sizes and colors, as long as I have enough advance notice. For example, many people have asked about larger tablecloths - I can get those, and will probably start ordering them on a more regular basis. I can also put together custom-designed kits if you want to embroider a special item.

Thank you for your interest in Lmntl Crafts!

Donna Fenton
